Cricket stadiums are famous for their passionate fans, but this passion sometimes boils over into surprising incidents. That’s what happened during an IPL 2025 game when a fan tried to chase Virat Kohli in Jaipur stadium leading to a moment that very soon found itself on the internet.
Kohli had just completed a well-made 62 off 45, with Phil Salt chipping in with a 33-ball 65. But in a matter of a minute or so, everyone shifted the attention from cricket to mayhem. No sooner had Kohli stepped onto the field when suddenly a fan broke into the security line and came running towards him. For an instant, it looked like the fan was about to catch up with him but Kohli inch-jogged off, dodging the encounter. Security personnel swiftly overpowered the intruder before he reached Kohli.
The whole incident was recorded and immediately went viral on social media. The fans responded with a combination of laughter and exclamation, appreciating Kohli for being cool-headed and agile even off the field. While the incident was a lighthearted one, it sounded alarm bells over player safety. Security at stadiums is in place for both players and fans and incidents like these point towards the fact that there is plenty of work that needs to be done.
Interestingly, that was also a match to remember for Kohli, who became the first Indian player to achieve 100 half-centuries in T20s, and Australia’s David Warner in that exclusive club.
